The Newtown Youth Basketball Association will be sponsoring a basketball clinic for all Newtown basketball players and coaches on Sunday, November 5, at Newtown High School.
Saint Thomas More Prep, nationally recognized as one of the top post-graduate basketball programs in the country, will conduct the clinic, run through a pre-season practice, and play a scrimmage. Saint Thomas More competes with other prestigious New England Prep schools in the Southeastern New England Athletic Conference (SENE), a division of the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC).
The Chancellors are nationally ranked year in and year out, with a lineup that typically features several major Division I basketball players.
The team is coached by Jere Quinn, who was recently inducted in to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. Coach Quinn, the younger brother of John Quinn, varsity boys coach at Newtown High School, has been teaching and coaching postgraduate basketball at Saint Thomas for 28 years.
Coach Quinn has won numerous New England and national Prep school championships, with all of his players venturing on to continued basketball success at the Division I, II, and III levels.
NOTE: The event has been changed from Saturday, November 4, to Sunday, November 5.
