SNAPSHOT: CHARLES STORO

Occupation: As a winemaker, the work I do depends on the season. During the

winter, I prune the vines and cold stabilize the wines to get them ready for

bottling. Our harvest lasts two weeks in late September and early October and

it is then that I pick the grapes and bring them to our center for processing.

Family: My parents, Roseanne and Jerry, live in North Haven, along with two of

my sisters, Janet and Theresa. My sister, Sherry, and my brother, Jerry, live

in Orlando, Fla.

Pets: I am mourning my recently departed Belgian Shepherd, Niki.

How long in Newtown: The six years I have lived in Newtown and worked at the

McLaughlin Vineyard have been life changing ones for me; I appreciate being

able to wake up and hear only the birds and to ride along roads that wrap

around meadows and fields.

Biggest Change in Town: The Big Y and housing developments.

Hobbies: My hobbies range from sports to music. While I ski, rollerblade and

skateboard, my favorite sport is motorcycling. I belong to a Milford track

where I ride for fun on the weekends. I also play the drums, a pastime that

was passed on to me by my musical family. I enjoy listening to music, not for

the words, as many people do, but for the instruments.

Organizations: The day does not have enough hours for me to belong to any

organizations.

Personal philosophy: I try not to take my life for granted. When I get up in

the morning, I try to realize that the sun is up and when I head toward the

fields, I remember to look up to see the bald eagles soaring overhead.
