Newtown resident Kevin Dill, a senior at Chase Collegiate School, is one of 23 current students and graduates who earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) Program Exams. Forty-four percent of the Chase students received a 4 or 5 on the exams and one graduate received the title of National Scholar.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on a studentâs performance on AP exams. Kevin, son of Mr and Mrs Jeffrey Dill, qualified for the Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. The College Boardâs Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school and earn college credit. About 18 percent of the more that 1.8 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.Â
