Blood Drive Nov 5 At Trinity Episcopal Church
Blood Drive Nov 5 At Trinity Episcopal Church
An American Red Cross blood drive will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church at the flagpole on Monday, November 5, from 8:30 am to 6:45 pm.
Blood is needed on a constant basis in the state for accident victims and those requiring complicated surgeries, as well as for people undergoing chemotherapy and those with other life-threatening medical conditions.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, and be in generally good health. To make an appointment to give blood, call 800-GIVE LIFE (800-448-3543) or check the website at www.bloodct.org.
The American Red Cross has started a Helping America Heal hotline, a toll-free national compassion and information hotline, 866-438-4636, that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hotline provides brief supportive counseling addressing emotional, spiritual, and physical health concerns; how to answer questions from children; referrals to a nationwide network of Red Cross chapters for follow-up assistance; guidance regarding safety and security issues; answers to basic questions relating to the terrorist attacks; linkage to other services; and information on how to volunteer and make a financial donation.
The Red Cross also is providing resources on its website at www.redcross.org. There is information in 11 languages on such topics as âTerrorism: Preparing for the Unexpected (English and Spanish only); âHow Do I Deal With My Feelings?â; âHelping Young Children Cope with Traumaâ; âWhen Bad Things Happenâ; and âWhy Do I Feel Like This?â
The Red Cross also has established a âCompassion Boardâ for those who wish to post a message conveying their thoughts and feelings. This bulletin board is moderated by Red Cross grief and spiritual care counselors.
