SNAPSHOT JEANNE McLAUGHLIN

Occupation: Customer service at Brooks Pharmacy. I've been at this store about

six years; before that I worked 3« years in Monroe in the pharmacy.

What do you like best about your job: Talking to people; I like meeting

people. There are quite a few regulars in here - senior citizens, mothers with

children... people from all walks of life.

Family: My husband, Kenneth - we've been married 42 years. We have six

children, all grown up - Michael, Pat, Kenneth, Colleen, Raine, Christie; and

six grandchildren - Danny, Jessica, Mike, Steven, Sean, and Raymond.

Hobbies: I like decorating, fixing my house up. I like country stuff. Which

room do you like decorating the most: The living room. It has a big fireplace

and big windows in it. I decorate for different seasons. For Easter I have a

whole collection of rabbits and a hutch I put them in. And I put bunnies all

around. And different blankets. I've sewn pillows and things, but I don't have

much time to do much, so I stick with decorating. I also like to go to

antiques stores and craft stores with my daughter. We go up in Woodbury and

Middlebury.

Most memorable experience: Having six kids!

Do you like to cook: I cook lasagna - everybody likes my lasagna. And I used

to love making bread.

Biggest change in Newtown: The shopping center that's going to be put in; the

post office moving, which everybody misses; and work on the roads, which was a

pain in the neck. Church Hill Road has gotten so busy with through-traffic.

What movie or video have you seen recently that you enjoyed: I liked Matilda .

It was real cute.

What do you do for vacations: I go up to Kingfield, Maine - ski country.

That's where my husband is from. I love it, it's so pretty up there. We

usually go in July. We have an A-frame on a pond, near the Carrabassett River.

We go to parks at night, go up and see moose at Sugar Loaf Mountain. They're

very interesting. At a certain time, before dark, they come out with their

babies to a bog hole, a mud hole. We visit family up there. My husband has two

brothers, a sister, and aunts and uncles up there.

Personal philosophy: I don't really have one. I just get up every day and live

it.
