SNAPSHOT: Nancy Kasper
Occupation : Owner of Newtown Copy and Graphics Center. I opened on November
1, 1993.
Biggest change in Newtown: The most obvious to me because of driving here, is
the sewers coming in. You can't go anywhere without knowing it's happening.
Hobbies: Bike riding. Before I opened the store, I did a bike tour from Maine
to Florida in three weeks. It was an organized thing to raise money for The
Kennedy Center in Bridgeport. They help mentally challenged adults and train
them to work. I started a bike tour for them in 1991; they're still doing it.
And I shoot sporting clays about once a week in Rhode Island. It's an English
version of skeet or trap.
Organizations: National Sporting Clays Association, and League of American
Wheelmen.
Favorite food: Pizza, it's got to be.
Favorite music: Jimmy Buffett! We could do a whole article on that. I've been
listening to his music for 14 years; I've seen him over 50 times in concert.
My license plate [stands for] "Parrot Head," a Jimmy Buffett fan. I've had the
plate for about ten years. People have offered me money to cancel it so they
could pick it up.
Favorite Buffet piece: The album and song, "Changes in Latitude, Changes in
Attitude" - it was the first Jimmy Buffett song I heard.
Do you go to the movies or watch TV? I enjoy going to the movies, and I enjoy
watching TV. Favorite show: It changes. Right now it's Drew Carey.
Most celebrated customer: Sydney Eddison, the writer. She gave me one of her
books on gardening. I thought that was neat, having somebody give me their
book. She's very nice, too.
Personal philosophy: When I wake up, before I work out, I say, "I'm going to
make this a great day. I'm going to accomplish a lot, and feel good about it."
