Two Guys And A Pint, a local podcast that covers all things Newtown, recorded its first remote show at Newtown Senior Center on Friday, August 1.

The podcast is run by Gavin Arneth and Brian Hartgraves, two friends who launched the show late last year. The pair wanted to give people from Newtown and beyond a “backstage pass” to everything the town has to offer.

Now with three dozen episodes under their belt, Arneth and Hartgraves have featured many Newtown residents and figures on the show. These include First Selectman Jeff Capeci, Director of Human Services Natalie Griffith, Newtown resident and Pulitzer prize winner Josh Adams, and many more.

Two Guys And A Pint even featured The Newtown Bee’s Editor Jim Taylor and Managing Editor Shannon Hicks on an episode in early July.

The show is typically hosted in area they call “The Blackbeard Pub,” in the home of Arneth. However, Griffith and Newtown Senior Center Assistant Director Wendy Devereaux invited Arneth and Hartgraves to remotely host an episode in the senior center.

The proposition came after Griffith and Devereaux were featured on the podcast earlier in the year.

Everything fell into place from there, according to Devereaux.

“Seeing so many people here today ... it’s just so exciting,” Devereaux said.

Dozens of people showed up to the event, where residents were invited to share their stories with the community. Person after person sat with Arneth and Hartgraves and shared brief glimpses into their life, whether it be fun outings with family or humorous situations from way back when.

For Arneth and Hartgraves, the event served as a chance to highlight the vibrant spirit of Newtown, and all the people who call it home.
