Readers are invited to kick off their Labor Day festivities with friends, family, and neighbors at Newtown Congregational Church, where a community breakfast will be served ahead of the town’s Labor Day Parade.

All are invited to park in the church lot at 14 West Street, just two blocks from the Flagpole and all the parade excitement.

Parking opens at 7:30 am, and breakfast will be served from 8–9:30 am.

On the menu are fluffy pancakes (gluten-free options available), fresh fruit, savory sausage, and drink choices, all for just $6 per person or $20 per family.

For those just looking for parking, a $5 donation will secure a spot. Cash or check accepted.

Guests in the kitchen at Newtown Congregational Church on Labor Day 2024 included First Selectman Jeff Capeci, his wife Tanya, and their friend Kathy Ronan (red shirt), who cooked up sourdough pancakes as part of the morning’s Pancakes & Parking menu. The church will host another round of breakfast on September 1. —Louise Zierzow photo
