Tristan Rosenschein Named To U15 Youth National Team
Newtown’s Tristan Rosenschein is one of 24 of the nation’s top boys lacrosse players named by USA Lacrosse to the 2025 U15 Youth National Team. Players were selected following evaluations and applications during the spring and early summer. More than 2,000 players around the country participated in the process.
USA Lacrosse is the governing body of lacrosse in the United States National Team Development Program, the official pathway for players to train, compete, and be evaluated by national team coaches, playing a key role in the pipeline for the Men’s USA National teams, including the Olympic Sixes Team which will make its debut in the 2028 Olympics. Sixes is an even faster-paced version of field lacrosse and will be the official format for the Olympic games.
Team USA played in the Rivalry Challenge against their Canadian counterparts from September 19-21 in Sparks, Md. at USA Lacrosse Headquarters. The U15 team secured wins over Canada in field lacrosse, 9-1, and in sixes, 16-5. Rosenschein played a key role in both formats, creating turnovers and turning defense into fast offense, with multiple assists and scoring three goals. He also stepped up to take face-offs for the team after the designated player sustained an injury in game one.
“Getting to rep the red, white, and blue for my country and sport is a huge honor. I learned a lot from Coach Speaks, Coach Bell, and other USA Lacrosse staff. I even got to spend some time with a legend, Gary Gait,” Rosenschein said. “The sixes Olympic format was newer to a lot of us guys on the team — it was really fun. I like the fast pace and constant action. The other guys on the team were all great players and teammates who became friends through this process. I am grateful for the experience.”
Rosenschein’s first exposure to lacrosse was at a Newtown Youth Lacrosse winter clinic when he was 7 years old. The clinic was run by volunteer coaches and guest stars, the Loyola men’s lacrosse team. This is where Rosenschein fell in love with the game. He spent several years in the Newtown Youth program, playing every position over the years, to which he attributes much of his versatility as a player and empathy as a teammate.
The Newtown lacrosse standout was recently evaluated by Inside Lacrosse. The rating he was given places him as top-ranked player in his position within his graduating class nationally. “The [long stick midfielder] has your prototype build with length, range, a wide wingspan, and the energy to be an impact. He has the skillset and athleticism to be a force between the lines making plays pushing the tempo or in the ride as an intimidator,” according to Inside Lacrosse.
Rosenschein is a freshman at Fairfield Prep, where he also plays football, and he trains with Eclipse Lacrosse Club out of New Canaan. He enjoys sharing his love of the game and training tips with current Newtown Youth Lacrosse players, including his younger brother Keegan, age 10. His advice to youth players: “Learn something from everyone you can, and help others get better. Reps are what make things stick, so hit your wall ball. Be a team player and step into whatever role your squad needs.”
