The Newtown Nighthawks fifth grade team left everything on the field in a matchup against the Monroe Lions, falling 6-0 in a tough, hard-fought Shoreline Youth Football Conference semifinal contest this past weekend. From the opening whistle, the Nighthawks played with grit, determination, and heart, refusing to back down despite the challenges they faced.

Both defenses dominated much of the game, with Newtown battling to break into the red zone against a strong Monroe front. The game’s only score came on a tipped ball in the Lions’ end zone, which found an open Monroe receiver.

Despite the setback, the Nighthawks showed resilience and teamwork from start to finish, embodying the true spirit of Newtown football. They close out their impressive season with an 8-1-1 record, just shy of a championship berth.

The entire team, coaches, and families can be proud of what they accomplished this year. The Nighthawks represented the town of Newtown with pride and look forward to coming back stronger next season as sixth-graders — ready to chase that championship once again.
