The Country House by Donald Margulies, directed by Terry Sagedy, will be presented by Town Players of Newtown.

A brood of famous and longing-to-be-famous creative artists have gathered at their summer home during the Williamstown Theatre Festival. When the weekend takes an unexpected turn, everyone is forced to improvise, inciting a series of simmering jealousies, romantic outbursts, and passionate soul-searching.

Both witty and compelling, The Country House provides a piercing look at a family of performers coming to terms with the roles they play in each other’s lives.

The Wall Street Journal called the drama “one of the most satisfying new American plays to reach Broadway in the past decade … a truly affecting play,” while Cultural Weekly said it “is a play that sneaks up on you, its satire and surprises well concealed and explosively timed.”

Performances are planned for December 5-20, with curtain on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2.

There is also one Thursday evening performance scheduled, at 8 pm December 18.

Tickets are $30, with a senior discount of $5 cash back at the door for tickets purchased online or $5 discount for tickets purchased at the door.

Town Players perform at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road.

Reservations and additional information are available at newtownplayers.org.
