Family: My local in-the-house family is my wife Emily, and our two little boys, Griffin, 6, and Gage, 3.

How did you meet your wife? We met through match.com. We actually have a lot of mutual friends, so she checked with her friends and I checked with my friends, and we made it work.

How long have you lived in Newtown? My whole life. I was gone for college, and a year or two here and there, but I am happy to call Newtown home. Some of my siblings didn’t grow up here but I was born and raised here, and found my way back.

Work: I am one of the owners of Omaha Beef Company in Danbury. We are a wholesale distribution company and manufacturer. I married into the business. One of my partners has been around a lot longer than I have — his father and grandfather had both owned it. We are a third generation company. It’s our second anniversary of me and my two partners officially taking over the business and we are all hands-on-deck, everything from sales to operations to loading trucks to whatever it takes, just like any family-owned business would do to find a way and make it work.

If you could spend the day with one person, living or deceased, who would you choose and why? Definitely my father. My dad passed away when I was 19, so I was a sophomore in college. I’m the youngest of five kids and I felt a little cheated. I wish I had more years with him like they did. He passed of cancer, and I was home through my high school years with that process, so I kind of lived and breathed that situation. He was witty, and he was smart to run things off of, just like any father. I still dream about him, and hear his voice, so to spend a day with him would be pretty remarkable.

Do you have any unusual or surprising talents? I can sing a little bit. The first time Emily and I went out, we did karaoke and I think that might have been what sold her on me.

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to? I grew up going to The Meadows, and listening to Dave Mathews. My high school crew, we’d always trek up to Hartford for those shows. Now it’s evolved into Coldplay and that type of music. I also listen to what my kids latch on to, so Benson Boone and that whole era. We also love going to local festivals and some of the local groups — The Alpaca Gnomes, and Alternate Routes, we love them. We enjoy going to Edmond Town Hall, Fairfield Theatre Company and Ridgefield Playhouse. We love those places and enjoy going there frequently.

What was the most recent concert you went to? We went to the new Bridgeport amphitheater over the summer and saw Brad Paisley. He was amazing. The show was a lot of fun, really good energy.

Favorite colors? Blue and hunter green.

Favorite food? We’re eating a lot of Bell & Evans chicken, because that’s what we sell, so we love all the iterations of what we can do with chicken. As the owner of a food distribution company there’s no shortage of food, it’s more so ideas on what to do with it.

What is your proudest accomplishment? My two sons. They were a game changer for us, and seeing them grow and being back in Newtown is great. I grew up in one part of town, and we now live near Ram Pasture, and even with that short distance I feel like I’m living in almost a different town. They’re in a different school than I went to, but seeing them on the sports fields, it’s fun to watch them put their spin on what they like to do. It’s been really fun to watch. I kind of showed them the roots of the town and community, and allow them to navigate it on their own.

What is your favorite thing about Newtown? It’s the people, definitely. There’s also the community-knit feel of the town. Obviously it has grown in different ways but it still feels like home. As my wife and I were looking for a house, there were different communities we were looking at but ending up here was the best decision. I love the flagpole, and taking pictures of it. It’s nostalgic, being here.

Do you have a personal credo? Pivot. When you’re in a jam — life, relationship, whatever it may be — find a different path and navigate.
