NHS Gymnastics Team Getting Ready For Postseason
Newtown High School’s gymnastics team had a pair of meets in late January and early February as the Nighthawks geared up for the postseason. They visited Kinetic Kids Gymnastics of Oxford on January 30 and scored 90.550 points; Pomperaug of Southbury had 123.100 and Oxford 113.800. Newtown had some tremendous results in the meet.
Bri Schoffstall and Ellie Ehret both scored a 9.0 on balance beam, Schoffstall scored a 8.75 on bars, and Eva Fenaroli scored a 8.3 on vault — all high scores for the team. Sadie Boyajian had an 8.1 on vault, and Bella Muzzio-Martins had a 7.4 on vault. Schoffstall scored 8.75 on bars.
The Nighthawks also had a meet at New Milford on February 2 and scored 93.900 to edge Brookfield with a team score of 93.200. New Milford won the competition with a score of 121.600. Schoffstall led the way with a 9.3 on bars and 9.2 on the balance beam, and Ehret tallied a 9.050 on bars and 9.1 on beam. Fenaroli scored 8.5 on vault and 7.5 on floor, Boyajian had an 8.3 on vault and 7.85 on bars, and Muzzio-Martins recorded an 8.2 on vault and 7.0 on the balance beam.
Up next for the Nighthawks is the South-West Conference Championships, set to take place Thursday, February 12 at New Milford High starting at 5 pm.
