Track Relay Teams Take Home Crowns In SWC Championship Meet
Both of Newtown High School’s indoor track 4x800 relay teams won titles at the South-West Conference Championships at New Haven’s Floyd Little Athletic Center on February 7. Natalie delCampo, Clare Csaszar, Eleanor Smith, and Natalie McLean won in a time of 10:23.62. Marc Caratas, Orion Lowery, Aarav Shetty, and Reid Karnas finished in a time of 8:34.69 for the event win.
Newtown’s girls’ team placed third with a score of 49.33; Weston was first with 62 points, followed by Pomperaug of Southbury in second with 55. The NHS boys, with 67 points, were runner-up to Bethel, which had 158 points.
The 4x200 relay comprising Noah Kooper, Bryce Maddox, Justyn Gonzalez, and Grady Marks was second in 1:35.75. Duncan Kolb was second in the 1000 meters in 2:39.35. Orion Lowery came in second in the 3200 in 10:12.68.
Both the girls and boys took home runner-up, third place, and more top-ten finishes. Top results from the girls’ meet are as follows:
