Nighthawk Gymnasts Second In Conference Meet Behind MVP Schoffstall’s First In All Around Scoring

Newtown High School’s gymnastics team competed in the South-West Conference Championships at New Milford High on February 12. The Nighthawks earned second place with a score of 130.800, just behind winner Brookfield (131.600), and ahead of New Milford (129.100).

Bri Schoffstall placed first in the all around scoring as well as on bars, balance beam, and in floor exercise, and won championship MVP accolades. Ellie Ehret placed third in all around, second on bars, third on floor, and sixth on vault.

Schoffstall and Ehret were named to the All SWC First Team and Bella Muzzio-Martins was named to the Second Team.

Schoffstall scored 7.7 on vault, 8.95 on the bars, 9.30 on beam, and 9.25 on floor. Ehret had an 8.05 on vault, 8.75 on bars, 8.50 on beam, and 9.15 on floor. Muzzio-Martins recorded a 6.85 on vault, 6.7 on bars, 7.05 on beam, and 7.5 on the floor. Sadie Boyajian had a 7.6 on vault, 8.1 on bars, and 7.65 on beam. Eva Fenaroli scored 8.0 on vault, 7.30 on beam, and 8.8 on the floor.

Masuk High’s Savanna Cedrone, who trains with the Nighthawks, was second in all around scoring, third on bars, third on beam, fourth on vault, and sixth on the floor.

Bri Schoffstall, at Newtown Gymnastics Academy this winter, took home the top all around score and MVP honors at the SWC Championships on February 12. —Bee Photo, Hutchison
