Swimmers And Divers Compete In States

Newtown High School’s boys’ swimming and diving team competed in the Class L State Championships and placed eighth. Diving took place March 4 at Sheehan High in Wallingford and the swimming events were held March 9 at Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford. Results are as follows:

200 Medley relay (Elias Kolb, Finn Clancy, Kyle Albrecht, Warren Ache): sixth place, 1:42.61.

200 Free: Alex Gadbut, 18th, 1:49.98.

200 IM: Beau Clancy, 21st, 2:17.74.

50 Free: Ache tenth, 22.74; Kolb, 23rd, 23.92.

Diving: Trenton Story, ninth, 293.80.

100 Butterfly: Albrecht, 11th, 54.04; Bradley George, 21st, 58.22.

100 Free: Ache, 13th, 50.46; Finn Clancy, 16th, 50.78.

500 Free: Gadbut, 14th, 5:01.09; Sam Irving, 23rd, 5:23.39.

200 Free relay (Ache, Albrecht, Finn Clancy, Gadbut): fourth, 1:30.24.

100 Backstroke: Beau Clancy, 17th, 1:00.25; Kolb, 18th, 1:00.41.

100 Breaststroke: Finn Clancy, 7th, 1:03.10; Irving, 15th, 1:06.25.

400 Free relay (Gadbut, Kolb, Irving, Story): 10th, 3:34.53.
