Local seniors at Newtown Senior Center closed out the week with their popular billiards tournament on Friday, April 17.
Twelve teams of two faced off in a friendly competition to be the champions of the senior center’s pool room. The tournament has become a beloved Newtown Senior Center tradition, to the point it is now held twice a year.
The senior center poolroom was crowded with people throughout the day, whether they were competing or just there to watch. There were also plenty of prizes to win and food and drinks to enjoy, courtesy of local residents and businesses.
This year, the winning teams were: Gary Fillion and Sam Tucci in first place, Jim Pessolano and Anthony Tersigni in second place, and Hugo Fonseca and John Doern in third place. John Doern won Most Improved.
