Frank Joseph LaPak Jr, 92, of Newtown, passed away peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family, on July 21, 2026, at Danbury Hospital.

Born on August 4, 1933, in Norwalk, Frank was the son of Frank and Bertha (Stacho) LaPak. A 1951 graduate of Norwalk High School, Frank went on to work as a layout editor at the New Canaan Advertiser and later as a production assistant at The Newtown Bee. Beyond his professional life, Frank proudly served his country as a Korean War veteran and was a devoted member of St Rose of Lima Parish in Newtown.

Frank was a gifted athlete, excelling in three sports during his years at Norwalk High School. His achievements were honored with his induction into the Norwalk Old-Timers Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2005. Outside of athletics, Frank’s passions were many. He was a talented woodworker who created beautiful wooden treasures in his workshop, and he found joy in gardening and keeping his yard pristine.

Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Ellen (Callahan); his dog, Buttercup; and his siblings Bertha Divine, Robert LaPak, and Richard LaPak.

He is survived by his children Dennis LaPak (Maureen), Maura Zancan (Dominic), Kathleen Jennings (Richard), Sean LaPak (Carlos), and Tara Nicholson; as well as 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Frank cherished his family deeply and took great pride in each generation.

Visitation will be at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury, on Wednesday, July 29, from 5 to 8 pm. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 30, at 10:30 am, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 40 Church Hill Road in Newtown. Burial will follow at Newtown Village Cemetery, 20 Elm Drive. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Frank’s life.
