Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS) presented its third annual Summer Soiree on August 11, inviting friends and those who were curious to learn about the local advocacy group to learn about its mission over light refreshments.

The event was again presented at Aquila’s Nest Vineyards. Guests enjoyed a variety of charcuterie boards, beverages, and stunning views. Solid Gold Times Two also performed live music and a 50/50 raffle was conducted.

A brief passing shower sent everyone into the tasting room of the vineyard, but many guests said they nevertheless enjoyed the event.

Tenth Anniversary Approaching

Formed in May 2017, Friends Of Newtown Seniors provides advocacy and services to Newtown residents ages 55 and up through new initiatives conceived and developed by its board of directors.

Its mission is accomplished in two complementary ways: through new initiatives conceived and developed by its board of directors and by partnering with various nonprofit, for-profit, governmental, political, and religious organizations serving the Newtown senior population.

The organization also regularly hosts social events, meetings, initiatives, and offers opportunities for its members to help fellow Newtown residents.

As it heads toward its tenth anniversary in 2027, FONS is planning A Night To Remember, a special event to take place Thursday, September 17, 6-9 pm, at Marygold’s on Main, 19 Main Street.

Tickets are $75 each and include dinner. Dress will be cocktail attire and a cash bar will be operating.
