The Garden Club of Newtown invites readers to a presentation, “The History of Stone Walls in Connecticut.” The program is planned for Tuesday, October 27, at 1 pm, in the meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Presenters Peter and Barbara Rsaza are experienced environmental and graphic designers, respectively.

Their program will focus on the stone walls which meander along roadsides, forests, and fields across Connecticut. Stone walls are considered important archeological artifacts of our agricultural past.

Attendees will learn who built the old walls and the types of walls that are visible today.

Other features that will be covered are indigenous ceremonial stone structures, abandoned kilns, foundations, and other stone structures that have been found in Connecticut.

The goal of the Rsazas is to encourage people, especially children, to look more closely at our natural and historical world and to become more aware of its hidden wonders.

There is no charge to attend. All are welcome.
