SENIOR GIRLS
Newtown Gold 8, Wilton 0; Newtown Gold 11, Ridgefield 2, Newtown Gold 3, Glastonbury Elite 3 â The Gold dismantled Wilton and Ridgefield and played the one of the best teams in the state, Glastonbury Elite, to a tie at the New Milford Jamboree. Nicole Gindraux, Kelly OâConnor, Jocelyn Toll and Sarah Attanasio sparked the defense as Jill Jagoe was a force in the goal, making eight saves on the day. Kaitlin Brophy constantly won the draw at center giving Newtown possessions. The midfielders led by Kaitlyn Vos Winkel, Erin Brown, Brophy, Maggie Korth, Molly Mahony, Emma Kingsley and Ev Fahey played solid defense and keyed Newtownâs fast break attacks. The attack was deadly off of assists by the midfield and was led by Liz Emerson, Meredith Bridges, and Meghan Carney.
Newtown Gold 7, Fairfield-Wakeman 3 â Jill Jagoe had eight saves in the net and Kaitlin Brophy got four ground balls to lead Newtown to the win. Ev Fahey and Maggie Korth played well in the midfield as Liz Emerson, Meredith Bridges, Sarah Attanasio, Kaitlin Brophy, Erin Brown and Emma Kingsley scored the goals.
Newtown Gold 7, Wilton A 6 â Tired, hot, and down 5-2 at halftime the Gold refused to lose battling back to beat a powerhouse Wilton A team. Goalie Jill Jagoe stopped every shot but one in the second half while the defense was outstanding, led by Kelly OâConnor and Sara Attanasio. Katie Canavan and Kaitlyn Vos Winkel led the team in ground balls. The offense was led by Kaitlin Brophy, Meredith Bridges, and Liz Emerson.
Newtown Blue 9, Stratford 5 â Emma Glasrud made five saves in goal. Good laddering of the ball forward by defense resulted in goals by Lilly Rodriguez, Megan Knox, Casey Kearns, Natalie Clark and Anna Hodge.
Newtown Blue 8, Wilton 3 â Eleven saves in goal by Emma Glasrud anchored a victory for Newtown. Christina Gould, Michelle Isabella and Rachel Hyland had key interceptions which often turned into goals by Casey Kearns (3), Lilly Rodriguez (2) and Natalie Clark. Rachel Hyland and Christina Gould each scored one goal.
Weston 10, Newtown White 5 â Allie DiDomizio and Ellie Mouchantat had five saves apiece to spark the Newtown defense. Lexi Black, Brenna Calderara, Katherine Scott and Katherine Lotrecchiano had a great ground ball game as Christina Caporale, Aria Brownell and Kelsey Karp also did an excellent job helping the defense.
Newtown White 7, Wakeman 4 â Lexi Black had a total of six saves and defenders Brenna Calderera, Christina Caporale, Susie Giarratano, Danielle Ford and Aria Brownell all had excellent ground ball games. Andrea Sayegh, Alex Kline and Allie DiDomizio powered the offense.
Newtown White 9, New Fairfield 1 â Nothing could get past the strong Newtown defense led by Emma Glasrud (5 saves) and Meredith Bridges (3 saves). Andrea Sayegh provided excellent midfield support for goal scorers Allie DiDomizio, Emily Molloy, and Alex Klein. Lexi Black, Kelsey Karp and Ellie Mouchantat were solid in the midfield.
New Milford Jamboree
Newtown White 3, Amity 3 â Gabby Mason did an excellent job in goal, saving six shots. Defense was strong and led by Caroline Lawrence and Allie DiDomizio.
Cheshire 7, Newtown White 0 â Ellie Mouchantat had six saves while Brenna Calderera, Andrea Sayegh and Katherine Lotrecchiano did an excellent job slowing down Cheshireâs offense.
Bethel 7, Newtown White 5 â Allie DiDomizio, Emily Molloy and Brianna LeBlanc scored to lead Newtown. Aria Brownell did a great job in the cage with eight saves. Brenna Calderera led the ground ball attack.
SENIOR BOYS
Newtown Gold 12, Trumbull A 5 â Ryan Korth led a balanced offense, scoring two goals and two assists to pace the visitors as they triumphed over a big Trumbull Senior A squad at Indian ledge on Friday night. Connor Byrne scored a goal and had three assists and Lewis Thompson scored two goals and had an assist. Michael Zaccaro and Will Northrop each had a goal and an assist. Brandon Body made eight saves, and was supported ably on defense by Sean Maher and Jeremy Schaniel.
Newtown Gold 13, Bethel A 6 â Ryan Korth scored four goals and Lewis Thompson handed out four assists to lead Newtown to the win. The offense was unhinged for the second straight game, with Will Northrop, Kyle Vignone, and C.J. Ryan scoring two goals each. Mike Zaccaro and Colby Summerlin each had a goal and an assist and Tom Murphy scored a goal. Brandon Body made seven saves, and close defensemen Colin Cinder and Joe Pieretti continued to keep Newtown out of harmâs way in their half of the field.
Cheshire Black 5, Newtown Gold 4 â Newtown was unable to hold a late lead and lost a heartbreaker in the final minute at Treadwell. Kyle Vignone, Lewis Thompson, Will Northrop and Ryan Korth scored goals and assists came from C.J. Ryan, Tom Murphy, and Colby Summerlin. Brandon Body made 10 saves in goal.
Newtown White 3, Litchfield Hills 0 â Justin Brophy had two goals and Cory Fisher scored a goal and had an assist as the White shut down Litchfield Hills. The defense of Will Fletcher, Kevin Dennis, and Ryan Crowell supported goalie Justin Spath in the shutout. Great play on ground balls gave Newtown dominant possession throughout the game, as the hometowns out hustled the visitors to 45 loose nuggets (10 from Dennis alone), while giving up just 22.
Newtown White 9, Shelton B 3 â Trey Trudell scored three goals and had two assists to lead the offense. Colin Morris scored twice and handed out two assists. Justin Brophy scored three goals and Matt Vavrek scored once while Cory Fisher and Kevin Dennis each had an assist. Justin Spath made six saves, and Brendan McNamara provided much-needed hustle and heart from midfield.
Newtown White 8, Amity B1 5 â Colin Morris and Justin Brophy each scored two goals to lead Newtown to the win. Brendan McNamara had a goal and an assist and Trey Trudell scored a goal to contribute to the win. Goalie Justin Spath shut Amity down with four saves, supported by the long poles of Will Fletcher and Kevin Dennis.
Amity B2 8, Newtown Blue 3 â Matt Genovese scored twice and scooped 12 ground balls and Brandon Cusmano scored a goal, but Newtown was unable to overcome Amity on the road. Matt Grace made 10 saves in goal.
JUNIOR BOYS
Newtown Blue 11, Litchfield Hills 6 â Chase Hutchison turned in a stellar performance with four goals, one assist and 16 ground balls to lead Newtown to the win. Goalie Casey Fuller (five saves) and defenders KC Condon and Andrew Volkers held the visitors to one second half goal. Max Lopez and Tommy Gleason each had a goal and an assist. Anders Fogelberg handed out two assists, Andrew Derrickson and Connor Hanley each scored a goal and Mitchell Stewart had an assist to round out the offense.
Redding/Easton Gold 4, Newtown Blue 3 â Chase Hutchison scored twice, Owen Bowler scored once and Casey Fuller made nine saves but it wasnât enough to stop RELax from winning in a tight contest. Connor Hanley had six ground balls.
New Fairfield 11, Newtown Blue 4 â
Mitch Stewart, Tommy Gleason, John Myers each scored a goal and Connor Hanley scored a goal and hustled all over the field with six ground balls in a loss to New Fairfield. Max Lopez had another fine night with six ground balls and two assists.
RELax 4, Newtown Blue 3 â Chase Wurtz, Andrew Volkers, Mitch Stewart, Anders Fogelberg and KC Condon had a pair of ground balls each in a loss to RELax. Chase Hutchinson had five ground balls and two goals to spark the offense as Max Lopez and Connor Hanley played well.
JUNIOR GIRLS
Newtown Blue 4, New Fairfield 3 â Goalie Brittany Boggs stopped a blazing shot with 2:30 left in the game and Meaghan Harkins scored the winner with just one minute to go to lead Blue. Erin Kenning won the ensuing draw and held it away from the defense. Other goals were scored by Kelsey Packer, Kristie Vos Winkel and Tressa Scott. Julie La Perch had two assists.
Newtown Blue 7, Wilton 5 â Maddie Fletcher, Paige Murphy and Brittany Emslie notched two assists apiece with goals from Emily Maher, Erin Kenning, Tressa Scott, Meaghan Harkins, Kristie Vos Winkel and Kelsey Packer to lead Blue.
Newtown Gold 9, Brookfield 8 â Goalies Olivia Korth and Bryanna LeBlanc teamed up with defenders Julia DiLouffo and Caroline Kingsley to hold back the tide. Anna Northrop and Jane Sclafani played well at midfield as Tess Kneisel and Rachel Wiberg kept the attack going.

Newtown Gold 9, Madison Gold 7 â Matt Bouton scored three times to lead Newtown to the win. Jake Lambert kept the game close with some key saves in the first half.
New Fairfield 11, Newtown Gold 5 â Conrad Morris and Nolan Fisher showed promise as newly minted goalies, and both did a fine job in the loss. Bradley Kretz scored goal and Matthew Bouton was tireless on offense and defense. Kaj Djonne and Robby Lasher stood out for the way they ran hard all game. Christian Hoffman saved a goal by taking a hard shot in the belly.
BANTAM BOYS

Navy 8, Carolina 0 â Peter Manfredonia scored a goal and scooped several ground balls to lead Navy. Nick Bourgeois had a goal and some big defensive plays and, in the cage, Joey Santella blocked numerous shots from the Carolina attack. Leading the Carolina team were Patrick Conte and Nick Rubino, with five ground balls each. Owen Gray had a great day in the cage, making more than 20 saves on the day.
Dartmouth 3, Hofstra 2 â Aidan Bowler scored two goals and Mike Cook scooped several ground balls to lead Dartmouth. Hofstraâs Scott Bauer and Peyton Manning each scored a goal in the defeat. Matt Elias worked hard collecting ground balls through out the game.
Harvard 9, Syracuse 5 â Jeremy Doski scored several goals to pace Harvard. Brothers Joey and Kristopher Whelan played well and made contributions at both ends of the field. For Syracuse, Ethan Marsh scored three goals and Matt Myers played well. Christian Morlock was solid on defense.
Navy 8, Dartmouth 7 â Jonathan Rospenda scored twice to lift Navy to the win. Kyle Mangold and Mike Cirone worked throughout the game for ground balls, which gave the Navy offense multiple scoring opportunities. For Dartmouth, Austin LeBlanc powered the offense while Stewart Olson dug hard for ground balls and Clay Gattey was solid in the cage.
Harvard 6, Carolina 1 â Quinn Helmig led the offense and lifted Harvard to the win. Scott McLean and goaltender Matt Hess played well. For Carolina, Mitchell Savoca led the offense as Andrew Svanda and Owen Gray played well.
Hofstra 4, Syracuse 2 â Peyton Manning and Steven Faxlanger anchored a strong defensive effort to lead Hofstra to the win. Jared Pearsonâs two goals proved to be the difference in the final score. For Syracuse, Matt Myers was strong in the cage. Zach Amueller scored his first goal of the season as Charlie Fletcher provided an assist and several ground balls.
