DUI Charge
DUI Charge
Police said that while on patrol duty about 11 pm March 17, they observed a vehicle parked with its engine running at the intersection of Tinkerfield Road and Mile Hill Road.
Police said that when they arrived at the intersection to check out the situation, the driver, Nathaniel Greenfield, 20, of 29 Parmalee Hill Road, put the vehicle into gear and attempted to leave.
Police said they stopped the vehicle and investigated, detecting the odor of alcohol. Police said they gave Greenfield a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed.
Police said they patted down Greenfield and found two marijuana cigarettes and a marijuana pipe on him.
Police said they charged Greenfield with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After processing, police released Greenfield on a promise to appear March 27 in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on the charges.
Alcohol/Drugs
At about 3 pm March 16, police saw a vehicle parked in a fire lane at the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street.
Police said they approached the vehicle, looked in and saw a case of beer in plain sight. A search of the vehicle turned up a marijuana pipe with marijuana residue, police said.
Police said they charged the driver, Kyle A. McCullough, 19, of 182 Walnut Tree Hill Road, Sandy Hook, with illegal parking in a fire zone, possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police released McCullough on a promise to appear April 3 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Walker Hill Road
Police report a two-vehicle accident on Walker Hill Road March 16.
Motorist Donald L. Roos, 45, of 13 Walker Hill Road was driving a 1988 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer westbound as motorist Assunta G. Carr, 41, of 1 Walker Hill Road was driving a 2000 Toyota Sienna eastbound, police said.
The Chevrolet failed to stay to the right on a curve in the road, entered the opposite travel lane and collided with the Toyota, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Roos a written warning for failure to keep to the right on a curve.
I-84 DUI
State police report they observed motorist John J. Rush, 39, of Danbury driving erratically on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 11 about 12:15 am March 16. State police said they stopped Rush and investigated, charging him with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the established lane.
After posting a $500 cash bond, state police released Rush for a March 26 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Lexus Crash
State police said motorist Pierre Obas, Jr, 25, of Danbury was driving a 1992 Lexus 400-LS westbound on Interstate 84 west of Exit 9 about 6:15 am March 18 when he slid on wet pavement, lost control of the auto and hit steel guard cabling along the right road shoulder, damaging three guard posts and 36 feet of cabling.
Obas was uninjured. State police issued him an infraction ticket on a charge of traveling too fast for conditions.
Flying Object
State police said motorist Sally L. Reynolds, 53, of Slate Hill, N.Y., was driving a 1995 Honda Accord sedan eastbound on Interstate 84 east of Exit 11 about 10:20 am March 18 when a pickup truck, which was traveling directly in front of the Honda, lost its bed liner. The bed liner, which is a large plastic insert that sits in a pickup truckâs bed, flew off the truck and struck the Hondaâs windshield. The flying object cracked the carâs windshield and dented its roof, state police said.
Ms Reynolds, who was seatbelted, was not injured.
The driver of the unknown truck left the scene of the accident without providing Ms Reynolds with any information, state police said.
Chevrolet Accident
State police report motorist Janet Byrnes, 56, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 9 on March 12, lost control of the auto, spun out, crossed from the left lane to the right lane, and struck wire guard cabling along the right road shoulder. Ms Byrnes, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.
State police issued her a warning for failure to stay in the established lane.
Field Damage
Police said they charged Michael Skiba, 16, of 3 Dinglebrook Lane with second-degree criminal mischief about 9 pm March 19 for allegedly driving a motor vehicle on the soccer field at Treadwell Park on Philo Curtis Road in Sandy Hook. Second-degree criminal mischief involves between $250 and $1,500 of vandalism damage.
Police said the vehicle became stuck on the soccer field and was towed out.
Police released Skiba for an April 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
After processing the criminal mischief charge, police said they turned over Skiba to Danbury police, who were seeking him in connection with another matter.

Jeremiah Crash
Police report motorist Margaret Kadar, 47, of 15 Lakeview Terrace, Sandy Hook, was driving a 1989 Plymouth Acclaim westbound on Jeremiah Road about 7:30 am March 19, when while traveling up a wet, icy, slushy hill, she lost control of the auto, went off the right side of the road, climbed an embankment and struck a stone wall. Kadar was not injured, police said.
Police issued a written warning to Kadar for making a restricted turn.
Jaguar Vs Ford
Police said motorist Louis P. Nespoli, 58, of 16 Nutmeg Lane was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer eastbound on Route 34 about 4:30 pm March 19 when he stopped behind a line of traffic and was then struck from behind by eastbound motorist Gary S. Wheeler, 49, of 5 Deerfield Drive, who was driving a 1984 Jaguar XJ. There were no injuries, police said.

MV Violations
Police said they charged a local man with two motor vehicle violations about 10 pm March 20.
Police said they saw Adam C. Levy, 34, of Sandy Hook driving an unregistered 1998 Audi on Church Hill Road, so they stopped it.
After investigating, police charged Levy with operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. Police released Levy on a promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court March 28.
Toddy Hill Deer
Motorist David T. Larson, 18, of 18 Crabapple Lane was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer southbound on Toddy Hill Road about 9:15 pm March 14 when a deer entered the road, colliding with the sport-utility vehicle, police said. Larson was uninjured. Police took no enforcement action.
Cadillac Crash
Motorist Thomas T. Fay, Jr, 47, of Westport was driving a 1988 Cadillac sedan northbound on Route 25 about 9:20 pm March 15 when a deer entered the road, colliding with the auto, police said.
Mr Fay was not injured. No enforcement action was taken.
Church Hill Road
Police report a two-vehicle accident on Church Hill Road at the Blue Colony Diner about 5 pm March 19.
Police said motorist William J. Carbone, 25, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder westbound on Church Hill Road, was turning left into the dinerâs parking lot when he collided with an eastbound 1987 Honda Accord driven by Florence S. OâBrien, 64, of Woodbury.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported OâBrien to Danbury Hospital to be checked out, police said.
Chain Reaction
 A three-vehicle chain reaction accident took place about 4:30 pm March 19 on eastbound Route 34, west of Toddy Hill Road, police said.
 In heavy traffic, a 2001 Acura 3.2-T driven by Tammy L. Gruber, 32, of New Fairfield struck the rear end of a 2001 Ford sedan driven by Timothy Pendergast, 42, of Utica, N.Y., pushing the Ford into the rear end of a 1993 Chrysler Concorde driven by Clara Poindexter, 48, of Ossining, N.Y., police said.
 There were no injuries. Police issued Gruber a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Indecent Exposure
Police are investigating a report of indecent exposure at Booth Library on Main Street.
Police said that a male, who is approximately 40 years old, exposed himself to a young female inside the library on the evening of March 13. Police provided no other details on the incident.
Sandy Hook DUI
Police said motorist Mark P. Shashinka, 46, of Shelton was driving a 1986 Buick Century sedan eastbound on Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook about 12:18 am March 22 when while rounding a curve to the left, he drove off the right side of the road and struck several posts.
Police said Shashinka failed field sobriety tests. Police charged him with driving under the influence and making a restricted turn.
After processing, police released Shashinka for an April 5 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
