Learn More About The Police

To the Editor:

In response to “Stupid Rules” [Letter Hive, 2/6/09], I would recommend the author take the Citizen’s Police Academy course offered by our police department.

If you don’t know what our officers are responsible for, you certainly will after this course.  You will also understand the needs of the Newtown police force concerning size and exactly what their duties are as well as their limitations.

In regard to the traffic at the high school, using the cafeteria as a drop-off causes more traffic because in order for those cars to exit they must cross two lanes of traffic. You can always drop kids off a little early — five minutes can make a huge difference.
