Kelly Shpunt, a 2002 graduate of NHS, received her bachelorâs degree in psychology from Lycoming College, Williamsport, Penn.
Sandra Johnson, daughter of Wayland and Diana Johnson of Parmalee Hill Road was recently awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree from Boston University School of Medicine, Boston. Dr Johnson earned her undergraduate degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. After completing a residency in emergency medicine at University of Connecticut-Hartford Hospital, she hopes to remain in Connecticut and work as an emergency medicine physician at an area hospital.
Wesley Adam Baff graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine on May 15. Dr Baff, also named to the Deanâs List, graduated from Newtown High School in 1995 and from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, in 1999. He will be doing a one year internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. His tentative plans will be to join his father, Dr Fredric Baff, at his Danbury practice when he completes his internship.
Colin OâConnor, NHS senior, has been awarded the Mary Frances Edgett Scholarship by the Northern Fairfield County Retired Teachers Association. Colin will attend Central Connecticut State University. In his winning essay, he described his determination to become a special education teacher and to work as closely with his students as his guidance counselor and teachers have with him.
Christopher Lyddy, a 2001 graduate of NHS, received his masterâs degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvaniaâs School of Social Policy and Practice with the highest honor. He did his undergraduate work at Salve Regina University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in social work. He was named to the universityâs Deanâs List as well as to Whoâs Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Christopher is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the American Association of Suicidology. He is the son of Thomas and Sally Lyddy.
Sheila OâConnor received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the College of Wooster. While attending Wooster, she was a member of the Wooster Symphony Orchestra, the Scot Band, the Wooster Concert Band, the Wooster Chamber Orchestra, the Wooster Dance Company, and After These Messages, a capella womenâs croup. She received the Wooster Symphony Womenâs Committee Scholarship, a Music Achievement Scholarship, an Academic Achievement Award, and was named to the Deanâs List.
Aaron Johnson of Newtown and William Treadway of Sandy Hook earned Bachelor of Arts degrees and Kevin Murphy of Newtown earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Keene State College, Keene, N.H.
Margaret Ashey, daughter of Mark and Elise Ashey, received a Bachelor of Science degree in health and exercise science from Wake Forest University.
