4WEST POINT, New York – Drew Narcum, a 2002 graduate of Newtown High School, is a three-year letterwinner and a key member of the Army men’s lacrosse team.

He appeared in three games as a freshman, 14 games as a sophomore, and five games as a junior when he became an integral piece of the Black Knights’ nationally-ranked man-down unit (14th in the nation a year ago).

The Knights see Narcum – who has started all 12 games for 7-5 Army – as a big defenseman who gives the coaching staff another option and quality depth on defense with good size and knowledge of the game. He is one of the Knights’ top man-down defenders and leader on that man-down unit, a talented player with a long pole and this year has scooped 15 ground balls.

At Newtown, Narcum – whose parents both attended the U.S. Naval Academy – was All-SWC in 2001 and 2002 and was named first-team All-State in 2002.

More than 60 members of Newtown Youth Lacrosse visited the recent Army-Navy men’s lacrosse game … which the Naval Academy won, 11-10.

4WALTHAM, Massachusetts – Josh Tenenbaum, a 6-5, 310-pound defensive lineman, is one of the Bentley College football team’s key freshman recruits.

Following back-to-back appearances in the NCAA playoffs in 2003 and 2004 and a seven-win season last fall, they feel that the current crop of players will help carry the program to the next level and head coach Peter Yetten said, “This incoming class is as good as any group of recruits that we have ever brought into this school. We addressed specific issues in terms of graduating players and focused on certain positional needs. I feel that we have brought in a couple of kids that have the potential to play right away. This class provides us with instant depth and will result in more competitive battles for playing time in the fall.”

Bentley sees Tenenbaum – one of 10 defensive recruits – as a defensive lineman that possesses very good size, a quick and intelligent player who has a huge potential upside.

4CARY, North Carolina – Marcus Tracy, a 2005 graduate of Newtown High School, scored a goal and led the Wake Forest men’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over Virginia Tech at the ACC Spring Challenge.

The Deamon Deacons were 4-0-2 during the spring season and, at the same time, Tracy had the unusual pleasure of squaring off with former teammate Marc Doherty, a 2005 graduate of Newtown High School, who is regarded as a member of the Bulls’ 2006 recruiting class.

The Deamon Deacons and Bulls dueled to a 1-1 draw.

At Newtown High, Doherty was a PARADE Magazine All-American and an NSCAA/adidas High School All-American as well as the Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) Midfielder of the Year.

4LEWISTON, Maine – Pete Meisel, a 2004 graduate of Newtown High School, is a sophomore pitcher with the Bates College baseball team.

Meisel has made five appearances for the 9-12 Bobcats, starting two games, and is 0-1 with a 5.79 earned run average. In 14 innings of work, he has allowed 22 hits and 16 runs … only nine of the them earned. He has walked three batters and struck out five.

Last year, Meisel made four appearances with one start and tossed just five innings while recording a save. He whiffed four batters along the way.

4FAIRFIELD – Casey Kirch has appeared in 13 games for the Sacred Heart University men’s lacrosse team but the 2003 graduate of Newtown High School – and highest scorer in school history – has notched just one goal on seven shots. He has scooped up 16 ground balls for the 2-11 Stags.

4FAIRFIELD – Meg Regnery, a 2005 graduate of Newtown High School, has appeared in two games for the Sacred Heart University women’s lacrosse team and has yet to notch her first career goal. She has taken one shot for the 6-9 Lady Stags.

4SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – Chris Body, a 2005 graduate of Newtown High School, has run his record to 8-1 with the Western New England College men’s lacrosse team … currently ranked 19th in the nation in Division III.

Body has started 10 games and has spent 510 minutes in between the pipes, allowing 56 goals (6.58 per game) while turning away 95 shots (.629 save percentage). WNEC is 11-2, having lost only to No. 12 Wesleyan and No. 22 Tufts.

4SAINT MARY’S CITY, Maryland – John Oliver, a 2004 graduate of Newtown High School, has appeared in 10 games for the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s lacrosse team and has recorded one goal on nine shots. He has also registered one ground ball for the 12-4-0 Seahawks.

4NEW HAVEN – Christina Wolf, a 2005 graduate of Newtown High School, is a freshman member of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s softball team.

Through April 19, the Lady Owls had posted a 14-20-2 record as Wolf had appeared in 12 games (with one start). One of the top hitters in the South-West Conference a year ago, Wolf had just one hit in 14 trips to the plate for the Owls while scoring one run and driving in another.

4DANBURY – Edmund Breitling, a 2004 graduate of Newtown High School, is a member of the Western Connecticut State University men’s rugby team. Going by the nickname Milkman, Breitling is in his second year as flanker for the Colonials, who have recorded wins over Rhode Island College, Keene State and Beast of the East from Providence, Rhode Island.

During the fall, the Colonials were 2-3-1 and during the spring are currently 3-2-0 with a match against Trinity remaining.
