Political Promises
Political Promises
To the Editor:
Political promises are easy to make and hard to keep. Most of us instinctively know this. Yet I am receiving, on a daily basis, large political postcards making bold promises to me. These promises seem to be getting more exaggerated each day.
Candidates appear to believe that they alone can solve the problems of Connecticut and the United States with a wave of the hand. New jobs and lower taxes can be yours if only you would pull the lever for them on November 2, Election Day. Of course the implied suggestion is that the other candidates, the competition, donât want jobs for Connecticut or lower taxes.
On November 2 I urge you to vote for the candidates whom you believe can serve Newtown well, have proven themselves, and are sincere in their promises. If their promises seem too good to be true, perhaps they arenât true. Donât let the barrage of political post cards âpromising the moonâ cloud your good judgment and you instinct as to who the best candidate is.
And above all vote November 2.
