I could be writing today as a taxpayer, I could be writing today as a woman that was laid off during one of the worst financial crises in our nation’s history, I could be writing today as a young, caring member of the Newtown community, or I could be writing today as someone who believes that government, above all things, should be transparent and for the people. I write to you as all of those things, but most importantly I am writing as a fully-fledged supporter of Chris Lyddy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chris two years ago when I wanted to become more involved in my community. What struck me about him was his deeply rooted love and passion for our community and his sincere willingness to listen...to anyone. This is a man that actually wants to know what his neighbors are going through as citizens, and keeps these issues at forefront when he votes on our behalf and represents us in Hartford. Chris goes out of his way to hear about the concerns of the people he represents — it is a breath of fresh air and I’ve been blown away by what he’s accomplished in two short years.

When I got laid off from my job, Chris asked real questions: How large is your company? How many years were you there? How many other Connecticut citizens do you think will be affected? He has manifested his compassions and his concerns with action: he’s hosted small business roundtable discussions with other officials, he’s supported legislation that ensures local businesses understand the impact of government actions, he’s asked for — demanded, even — accountability and transparency from our government so the people of Newtown can live better lives.

I write as a taxpayer, I write as a formerly unemployed Connecticut resident who has seen true, forward motion in our community, and I write as supporter of Chris Lyddy for state representative. I hope other Newtown citizens will join me in reelecting Chris on November 2 so that he can continue his great work for us.

If government is about getting things done...this man has my vote, and should have yours also.
