Free Program: ‘New And Interesting Plants’

Horticulturist Michael Ruggiero, who serves as horticulturist and all-around plant and garden expert at Matterhorn in Spring Valley, N.Y., will present a free program at Newtown Senior Center on Wednesday, March 14. It will begin at 7:30 pm.

Mr Ruggiero will present a program called “New and Interesting Plants.”

He is a renowned horticulturist and lectures extensively on a range of plant and gardening topics. Prior to his employment at Matterhorn, he was senior curator in the horticulture department at New York Botanical Garden.

Mr Ruggiero continually supports horticultural learning and knowledge, sharing his expertise through workshops, seminars, and formal classes. Continuing his long-time association with the New York Botanical Garden, he continues to serve as an instructor for The School of Horticulture. An accomplished author, Mr Ruggiero’s books include Perennial Gardening, Spotter’s Guide to Wild Flowers of North America, and Annuals with Style: Design Ideas from Classic to Cutting Edge. This event is open to the public at no charge. The senior center is within the Multi-Purpose Building at 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.
