To the Editor:
Last week I read the news of Chris LaRocqueâs dishonesty regarding campaign fraud with great disappointment. The idea that someone who cannot follow rules on a grant application and displayed fraud regarding campaign donations wants to represent us in Hartford is discouraging. We donât need someone like that representing our town.
Two years ago, Newtown elected Chris Lyddy. He has been a breath of fresh air in the political world, someone who I am proud to call my representative. He has continually impressed me during our conversations at the Lobster Fest, the Duck Race, the Labor Day Parade, Danbury Hospital Childrenâs Day, and multiple other events around town. He has worked hard for the people of Newtown, fighting and advocating for us. Most importantly, as a mother of two young children, Rep Lyddy has been the kind of person I want as a role model for my children. Our elected officials serve as leaders in our community, and as people our children look up to. Rep Lyddy has the honesty, integrity. and dedication my kids should be looking up to.
The news of Mr. LaRocqueâs campaign fraud last week gave Newtown voters a clear picture of their choice this November. It appears as though Mr LaRocque will do anything to get ahead and that his personal political ambition is more important than anything else. In Rep Lyddy we see someone who truly cares about the people of Newtown, who has represented our best interests, and who holds true to the values we need most in our elected officials. I am happy to place my trust in Rep Lyddy as our representative in Hartford, and trust that Newtown voters will join me in reelecting him this November.
Sincerely,
Dr Dawn Ballard
