‘A SENSE OF PLACE’ AT PEABODY ESSEX

AVV 2028 #690229

SALEM, MASS. — “A Sense of Place: An Artist’s Tribute to the Seven Continents” is on view through June 3 at The Peabody Essex Museum.

This exhibition presents seven large hand painted textiles by contemporary artist Betsy Sterling Benjamin. The textiles, each representing a continent, celebrate the diversity and interconnections in nature and among cultures around the globe.

Objects from the museum’s permanent collection are also featured in the exhibition. Benjamin’s textiles, originally made to celebrate the millennium on each continent, reveal the perspective artists bring to global issues such as biodiversity and cultural awareness.

The museum is in East India Square. For information, 866-745-1876 or www.pem.org.
