Brookfield Historical Society Summer Exhibit Opens June 10

BROOKFIELD CENTER — Antique musical instruments, museum artifacts, pictures and relevant items highlighting the history of Brookfield will be shown during this year’s summer exhibit, “The Brookfield Landscape Past to Present.” The grand opening of the exhibit will be from noon to 4 pm on Saturday, June 10.

According to Barbara Golde, the director of exhibits for Brookfield Museum and Historical Society, “A focal point of the exhibit will be a pictorial history of Route 7 through Brookfield.” Included will be seven-foot long overview of the new Super 7 bypass extension scheduled to begin construction in the spring of 2007. In addition a computer generated short video will offer a look into the proposed redevelopment plan for the Four Corners section of town.

The exhibit opening coincides with the statewide June 10 Connecticut Open House Day program sponsored by the Connecticut Commission of Culture and Tourism. On that day art galleries, museums, theaters, historic properties and other unique attractions and venues throughout the state will be open.

Admission to the Brookfield Museum grand opening is free, and complimentary refreshments will be served on June 10.

The museum is located at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center. The exhibit will continue through the summer and will be open each Saturday from noon to 4 pm, on the first Sunday of each month, by special appointment, and when the museum’s Open sign is out.
