Filling The Bus

To the Editor:

“Fill the Bus” was a huge success thanks to the help and generosity of so many. We were able to fill both of the buses. This will make a huge difference for so many of our neighbors going through tough times.

I would like to thank Big Y, Caraluzzi’s of Newtown, and Stop & Shop for their cooperation and generosity. I would like to thank our volunteers: George and Carol Mattegat, Pat Bailey, Diane Guilfoil, Joe and Jillian Vazquez, Eric and Chris Paradis, Simone and Camille Paradis, Chris Lyddy, Sarah Hemingway, Tim Holian, Sara Frampton, Jim Juliano, Rich Boritz, Jan Brookes, and Robert Edwards.

Our volunteers not only helped at the stores during the day, they then went to social services and helped unload both buses and fill up the social service office. Because of their efforts and the generosity of our community, the food pantry is now back in business.

We were asked by some how they could help at other times. The food pantry is behind the Police Station [on Main Street near Route 302] and they are always accepting donations. They also take Big Y coins, gift cards, and monetary donations.

Again, thank you to all for making this possible and we look forward to seeing you next year.
