8th Grade Boys Travel
RIDGEFIELD 57, NEWTOWN 50: Despite a 24-point, 14-rebound, 5-assist night from Andrew Fiscella, Newtown was clipped by Ridgefield. Six other players scored four points apiece. John Oliver pulled down six rebounds while Ross Coates grabbed five. Devon Manfredonia made three steals.
NEWTOWN 57, WATERTOWN 50: Andrew Fiscella poured in 18 points and Ronnie Shimko added 15 as Newtown defeated Watertown. John Oliver grabbed 11 rebounds as Ross Coates, Ben Bagaglio and Brian Smith combined for 13 steals.
NEWTOWN 86, MONROE 34: Andrew Fiscella torched the baskets for 33 points while Devon Manfredonia added 14 and Ronnie Shimko chipped in with 13 in a rout of Monroe. Fiscella also grabbed 13 rebounds while John Oliver had 10. Fiscella, Manfredonia, and Troy Simek made five steals apiece.
6th Grade Boys Travel
NEWTOWN 57, WILTON 14: Stephen Neylon scored a game-high 13 points to lead Newtown to the win. Drew Adamek and Drew Harmata chipped in with eight points apiece. Josh Tenenbaum grabbed 10 rebounds. Newtown held a tight 17-14 advantage in the second quarter of this game before going on an amazing 40-0 run to close out the contest.
NEW CANAAN 44, NEWTOWN 37: Drew Adamek had nine points, Chris Giorno had six, and Brian Shimko and Josh Tenenbaum had five apiece as Newtown was clipped by New Canaan. Drew Harmata had nine boards and Jack Capito made off with six steals. Newtown climbed back from a 12-point deficit in this game, but struggles at the free throw line doomed the effort.
5th Grade Boys Travel
EASTON 37, NEWTOWN 29: Kevin Regan scored eight points and played well off the boards, but Newtown fell to Easton. Joey DeVellis scored seven points while Tad Pierson and Jack Quinn chipped in with four points apiece.
NEWTOWN 44, REDDING 15: Joey Bowen canned eight points while Ryan McGrath and Aron Fay scored seven points apiece to lead Newtown to the big win. Kevin Regan contributed six points.
NEWTOWN 46, NEW FAIRFIELD 20: Ryan McGrath scored 10 points to lead Newtown past New Fairfield. Joey DeVellis scored eight points, mostly after making steals. Cody Shpunt and Tucker Kass scored six points each. Michael Tibbets ripped down 10 rebounds.
