NEW MILFORD â What if you woke up every morning and didnât know who you were?
TheatreWorks New Milford has opened its 2004 season with David Lindsay-Abaireâs hit off-Broadway comedy, Fuddy Meers, a roller coaster of humor and intrigue about one womanâs struggle to regain her fractured memory.
Every morning Claire (being portrayed by M.J. Hartell), suffering from a strange form of amnesia, wakes up remembering nothing about her past, or even the day before. By retaining her sunny disposition, Claire is eager to solve the puzzle of who she really is and on this particular morning, sheâs in for the most jam-packed day of discovery imaginable.
When Claire is kidnapped by a mysterious limping man (Richard Pettibone), her all-too-good-to-be-true husband (Bruce Thomson) and pot-smoking teenage son (Devin Hanley) are in hot pursuit as this carnival ride of comedy begins.
Topping off the curio cabinet of bizarre characters is a dimwitted thug (Keir Hansen) with a foul-mouth hand puppet, a tough lady cop (Lori Larson), and Clarieâs mother (Sonnie Osborne), a stroke victim who can only speak gibberish. Every plot twist and turn brings Claire closer to revealing her past life and everything she thought sheâd forgotten.
The showâs designers include Scott Wyshynski, lights; George Meadows, set; and Keir Hansen, sound. Stage management is by Marie Ricci Gelston and Jessica Stewart.
Fudder Meers is being presented Friday and Saturday evenings though March 19.
Tickets for all shows are $15 for general admission. The show contains adult language and situations.
