Support For The Budget

To the Editor:

Newtown parents and students, let’s get fired up! The town referendum is April 27 and we need everyone to get out and vote Yes! Let’s set a town goal to get the budget passed the first time this year. This affects us all — public and private schools — because transportation costs are also on the chopping block. This year we all have had to deal with the school time and bus route issues! Stop the madness! There have been enough cuts to the school budget between last year and this year. We are on the verge of having class sizes of 25–30 students in some grades.

We also need more attendance from concerned students and parents at the budget meetings. The next two meetings are critical: March 8 and 24 at 7:30 at Reed Intermediate School. Come and speak up and help prevent any more budget cuts. We need parents and high school students to show their support. Come to the meetings and get out and vote Yes on April 27. You do not have to be registered to vote as long as you are a property owner in Newtown. If you will be out of town on April 27 you can get a mail in ballot in advance. Please take a stand and vote Yes! First time is a charm!
