To the Editor:

Over the past year I have come to know Justin Bernier through his numerous visits to our town. He has taken the time to attend community events, listen to the concerns of residents, and even take in a show by Town Players of Newtown at the Little Theatre. During this time, Justin has clearly demonstrated why he should have your support and be elected to Congress, representing Newtown in Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District.

In addition to his well-organized and well-funded campaign, he has clearly articulated his positions on important issues facing us today. Regarding the national debt, Justin opposes spending plans that take money from our children and grandchildren. He will fight for a balanced budget and a responsible spending plan for the future. In collaboration with Doctors for Bernier, he has clearly outlined his thoughts on health care reform, and I agree with him that losing your job should not mean losing your health insurance. Justin’s views on health care are based on the notion that every family deserves access to health care based on a consumer-choice system.

Education is very important to Newtown families. Justin opposes any policy that takes educational decisions away from parents, teachers, and local school districts. He supports programs that keep education resources in the classroom instead of the bureaucracy. Most importantly, he understands that education should focus on the needs of the child.

This election will be about the future of America and we have an opportunity for a fresh start. I encourage you join Justin at his town hall meeting and decide for yourself. Listen to his ideas and I believe you will agree that Justin Bernier is the best candidate to represent Newtown in the US Congress.
