Frederick Nacovitch

Retired Trumbull

Police Captain

Frederick Nacovitch, 76, a retired Trumbull police captain, died September 23. He was born on October 8, 1933, in Bridgeport, to Michael and Mary Pistey Nacovitch, and lived most of his life in Trumbull.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Rosemarie Hungerford Nacovitch; his four children, including Christine Orrico, and her husband, Ronald, of Newtown; eight treasured grandchildren; a brother; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr Nacovitch worked as a stone mason until joining the Trumbull Police Force in 1961. He worked his way up the ranks and in 1987 attained the rank of captain of the Detective Bureau.

He loved playing his guitar and harmonica, and listening to all kinds of music, especially country. He always had a large vegetable garden in his backyard. Mr Nacovitch loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, trailer camping, duckpin bowling, vacationing in Florida, and tinkering in his workshop. He was also an animal lover, and an avid Yankee fan.

But his greatest love was his family. He was fondly known as “Bepa” by his grandchildren.

Mr Nacovitch’s family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at St Vincent’s Medical Center, especially the nurses on 7 East, and staff members for their amazing compassion and care of him through this very difficult time.

Funeral services were September 27.
