For Kwame
Newtown Rotarian Harvey Sellner is hoping Newtown residents will consider âadoptingâ a young boy from Ghana this Christmas season. Twelve-year-old Kwame Kpodonu suffers from a strange disease, which has left him with deformed legs. Doctors think the problem could be rectified in a three-stage operation estimated to cost about $2,000.
Mr Sellner, who created the volunteer group World Health through Technology (WHT), has made a handful of trips to Ghana this past year. With the help of the Newtown Rotary Club, he plans to send several water purifiers, computers and other supplies to the African nation this spring.
