*COLDPLAY will be performing at The Meadows Music Theater on Saturday, May 3, and tickets will be going on sale this morning for that show. Saturday morning, tickets for THE FRAY, who will be at the same theater on Saturday, June 20, will also be going on sale. Purchase tickets through LiveNation.com or the phone number above.
*The March 26 date for BRITNEY SPEARS at Mohegan Sun Arena has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 3. The reschedule, according to a press release from the casino, is âdue to the grand size of the showâs production, including a 360° stage, acrobatic apparatus and intense visual effects.â
The current tour routing for the Mohegan Sun date does not allow enough time for travel and the needed production set-up time, the release continued. So the highly-anticipated The Circus Starring Britney Spears 2009 Tour will instead be playing Uncasville on May 2 and May 3.
Ticket holders are advised to retain their tickets for the March 26 show as they will be honored one the rescheduled date.
*On April 21, the same day their new album The Infection is released, CHIMAIRA will headline at Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. Tickets for that show are $39.75; call 203-345-2301 to order.
The show will be part of the bandâs Music As A Weapon Tour and will include Killswitch Engage, Lacuna Coil, Disturbed, and others.
*Bay Area thrash legends TESTAMENT will be on the road for their first tour in a number of years to celebrate The Formation of Damnation, the first new studio release from these guys in nine years.
The tour will feature the classic lineup of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Paul Bostaph. Testament will be bringing along Unearth and Lazarus AD for the tour, which kicks off May 2 and will make its way to Hartford for a show at The Webster Theater on May 23.
*Speaking of The Webster, the Hartford venue will also host an acoustic show by RYAN CABRERA on Friday, June 12, in its Underground setting. General admission tickets are $12, which is the age limit for the show too (ages 12 and up).
*Also speaking of The Webster, it was announced on Tuesday that the theater, which has been owned and run by the same family since its construction in 1937, has been sold. Justine Robertson, whose family built the Barry Square venue â initially used as a movie theater â sold the theater for an undisclosed price to John Peters, the owners of Worcester-based MassConcerts. Petersâs company has been handling the booking for The Webster since late January, and Mr Peters said in The Hartford Courant on Tuesday afternoon that he has no major plans for the club that can hold a crowd of 1,250 members, including ticket prices.
*Finally this week, radio station WPKN (89.5 FM) has been running an â8 Days a Weekâ concert series that will culminate with its spring fundraising drive, to run march 28 to April 4.
The public benefits from this series, which began on March 18 with a multi-band reggae benefit at Toadâs Place.
This weekend, however, you can catch up with the concert series when it continues at The Chefâs Table in Fairfield, where reggae singer-performer IRIE FEELINGS will perform on Sunday, March 22.
The Acoustic Café in Bridgeport will also host an event on Sunday night, that one featuring the four-piece gypsy jazz group CAFà MUSETTE. Acoustic finger-style guitarist Buzz Turner will open that one, which starts at 6 and has a $15 admission.
Until next week Iâll be seeing you... on the road.
