SENIOR TRAVEL

 

FAIRFIELD 8, NEWTOWN 2: In a physical, hard-fought game, Newtown fell to Fairfield’s Wakemans Club. Alex Caruso and Ryan Bigham scored for Newtown while Brendan O’Connor had an assist. Tim Howland and Tyler Bigham provided solid goalkeeping while Mike Cummings and Jay Schunter were tough at the midfield.

ELI 11, NEWTOWN 9: Mike Cummings had three goals and three assists in a thrilling game in New Haven. Ryan Bigham and Brendan Kelly had two goals apiece as Jay Schunter and Alex Caruso added one goal apiece. Tyler Bigham and Tim Howland played well in goal.

NEWTOWN 13, BROOKFIELD 4: Alex Caruso scored four goals while Mike Cummings and Drew Harmata added three apiece to lead Newtown to the win. Brendan Kelly, Justin Bass and Jay Bell also scored as Brendan O’Connor had three assists and Ryan Bigham and Cummings had two each. Kelly and Tyler Law also had assists. Marc Ingerman, Mike Conroy and Alex Read sparked the defense.

SENIOR IN-HOUSE

 

REDDING 9, UMASS/SYRACUSE 3: The combined In House teams of U Mass and Syracuse dropped a tough game to Redding Senior Travel. Kevin Cuseo, Brandon Thomas, and Jesse Gerardi led the scoring with a goal each while Brendan Reilly and Thomas combined to make 15 saves in goal. Don Sheppard led the middies with seven ground balls.

LOYOLA/DUKE 8, BROOKFIELD 8: The combined In House teams of Loyola and Duke played a thrilling double overtime game against Brookfield Senior Travel that was stopped at 8-8 due to darkness. Matt Dalling and Kyle Ekstrom had hat tricks with Tim Lynch and Dan Gindraux adding a goal each. Corey Regensburger added two assists and Gindraux contributed one. Steve Giacalone made 13 saves in goal in the first half and Regensburger had nine in the second including several point blank stops in the overtime periods.

REDDING 4, UMASS/SYRACUSE 3: The combined In House teams of U Mass and Syracuse dropped a hard fought game with Redding Senior Travel. Jesse Gerardi scored two goals and Kyle Shevlin added another on an assist from Chris Naglieri. Matt Dalling played excellent in the goal making 17 saves.

SOUTHINGTON 6, LOYOLA/DUKE 2: Loyola/Duke played hard behind goalie Chris Naglieri’s spectacular day in the cage but came up short to Southington, 6-2. Naglieri stopped 22 shots to keep the game close and Dan Gindraux fired in two goals to lead the scoring.

FAIRFIELD RED 6, UMASS/LOYOLA 2: UMass/ Loyola came up short against Fairfield Red by the score of 6-2. Andrew White and Brendan Reilly scored a goal each with Brandon Thomas contributing an assist. Brendan Kelly was solid in the goal with 11 saves with Josh Liska, Matt Fisher, and Jay Morrissey leading the defense.

FAIRFIELD GOLD 6, DUKE/SYRACUSE 2: Duke/Syracuse dropped a tight game to Fairfield Gold. Kevin Cuseo and Jesse Gerardi each had goals while Chris Naglieri had another super game in the goal stopping 18 shots. Blaise and Sean LaPorta combined for a phenomenal 23 ground balls at the midfield while Ben Krinke scooped up eight on attack.

JUNIOR IN-HOUSE

 

NEWTOWN 7, BROOKFIELD 5: The combined Newtown squads (Duke, Loyola, Syracuse and UMass) took a quick trip over to Candlewood Lake and defeated their host in a fast paced contest. Scoring for Newtown was Tim Wheeler with three and Ray Palmer with two. Alek Glasrud and Sean Kirk each added a goal. Providing continuos offensive pressure, attackmen Cody Cullens, Kyle Shevlin and Brian Kirk kept the Bobcats in their defensive zone. Eric Dreher and Dave Mariano prowled the midfield while Wilson Davidson, Blake Bell and Bill Romaniello played smothering defense. In Goal Scott Shannon had 11 saves.

JUNIOR TRAVEL

 

NEWTOWN (A) 6, NEW MILFORD (A) 3: The laxmen delivered a balanced offensive and defensive effort this day. Scoring for Newtown was spread across six players, with Greg Hill, Max Beitel Garrett O’Connor, Nick Maurer, Ned Emoerson and Zack D’Agostino all notching a goal. Assisting on these goals were Travis Speer, Alex Hamilton, Alex Divico, Ryan Morriessy, Matt Hill, and Erich Dinnan. Defensive standouts on this day included Ian White, Eric Palmer and Connor Collier. The Newtown Keeper, Dave Lewis delivered 13 saves.

NEWTOWN (A) 5, GREENWICH (B) 4 (OT): Newtown stormed back from a 2-1 half time deficit to defeat Greenwich in overtime. Ian Tarrant scored four goals and Erich Dinnan added one, while Alex Divico had a pair of assists and Greg Hill had one.  Special recognition goes to Bob Attanasio, Christian Beitel and Travis Speer for fueling Newtown’s offense with ball movement and possessions which provided the scoring opportunities. Defensive stalwarts Scott Regnery and Nick Maurer aided their keeper, Dave Lewis (14 saves ) to seal the victory for Newtown.
