Loving Mother Of Nine

Ruth Marie (Duffy) Kean, 81, of Danbury, died July 22, surrounded by her family. Mrs Kean was the wife of the late Arthur G. Kean. She was born in Norwalk, November 13, 1925, the daughter of James and Alice (Kearney) Duffy.

A resident of Newtown for more than 30 years, Mrs Kean owned and operated Art’s Stationary & Variety with her husband. In her early years she worked for NBC in New York City.

Mrs Kean is survived by her nine children and their spouses, Elizabeth and Anthony Viglione  of Newtown, Dennis Kean of Sandy Hook, Brian and Tracy Kean of Newtown, Catherine Kean of Sandy Hook, Arthur and Addie Kean of Norwalk, Kevin and Kathy Kean of Gaylordsville, Julia Kean of New Milford, Margaret and Randall Niquette of Southbury, and Veronica Kean of Danbury. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Artie and Maria Kean, Kevin and Thomas Kean, David and Stephen Kean, Christopher, Stefanie, and Steven Prorock, Katelyn and Haley Kean, Michael Morrison, Tyler Hoffman, Lori, David, and Kurt Niquette, and Emily and Mark Webb.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 26, from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in St John Cemetery, Norwalk.
