A Lunch and Learn Program entitled âStaying Fit at Any Ageâ will be held Tuesday, March 20, from noon to 1:30 pm, in the Lodge Room at Lockwood Lodge at Ashlar of Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road, Newtown.Â
Physical therapist Laura Laskey, therapy program manager for Ashlar of Newtownâs Short-term Rehabilitation Program, will explain how aging can affect the body and how various forms of physical activity, such as aerobic exercise and strength training, can benefit people of any age. Risk factors and precautions to take when beginning an exercise program will also be explored.
Ashlar of Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road, is an affiliate of Masonicare, Connecticutâs leading not-for-profit provider of healthcare and retirement living. Ashlar of Newtown sponsors the Lunch and Learn series, which provides the public with important and timely health and wellness information.Â
There is no fee for the program, which includes a complimentary lunch served at noon, followed by the presentation at 12:30 pm. Seating is limited. Call 203-364-3179 to make a reservation.Â
In other news, the Ashlar of Newtown Nursing Department will sponsor a free blood pressure screening on Tuesday, March 20, from 10 am to noon in the Lockwood Lodge Wellness Center.
