Motorcycle Accident
About 8:07 am on July 12, motorcyclist Ravis Vandurme, 30, of Brighton, Mass., was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson FLSTFI Fat Boy westward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, when traffic slowed, causing Vandurme to fall to the ground with the motorcycle, state police said. No other vehicles came into contact with the motorcycle in the accident.
Vandurme received injuries to both arms, but refused medical treatment, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.
Multiple Violations
Police report they stopped motorist Nicole Scavo, 20, of Bethel about 7:34 pm July 2 on South Main Street, near its intersection with Bryan Lane, because she was talking on a handheld cellphone while driving.
Police said they observed some unopened beer within the vehicle that Scavo was driving.
Police said they charged Scavo with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving, illegal possession of alcohol by a minor on a public road, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to carry a driverâs license.
Alder Lane
About 10 am July 7, motorist Christine Doscher, 42, of 20 Alder Lane, who was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot SUV on Alder Lane, was backing up the vehicle when it struck a parked, unoccupied 2006 Chevrolet Malibu sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement. The accident was reported about four hours after it occurred, police said.
Set of Keys
On July 7, police received for safekeeping a set of keys that had been found that day in the Point Oâ Rocks Road area. One of the keys is for a Toyota-brand vehicle. The owner may contact Sergeant Douglas Wisentaner at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841, to claim the keys.
Botsford Accident
Police report a two-vehicle accident about 9 am July 2 on High Bridge Road at its intersection with Botsford Hill Road.
In the incident, motorist Vincent Deaguila, 21, of Monroe, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV, struck the rear end of a 2000 Honda CRV driven by Camela Gertner, 45, of Monroe, police said. Â
There were no injuries. Deaguila received a written warning for following too closely.
Hawleyville Ramp
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the end of the Exit 9 off-ramp for eastbound Interstate 84 at about 3 pm July 2.
The accident involved motorist Athanasios Lazos, 38, of Danbury, who was driving a 1997 Honda sedan, and motorist Wesley Brown, 57, of Cortland, N.Y., who was driving a 2002 Nissan sedan, police report.
The Honda struck the Nissan from behind, according to police. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Lazos a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Berkshire Road
About 2:44 pm July 6, a two-vehicle accident took place on Berkshire Road near its intersection with Johnny Appleseed Drive in Sandy Hook, police report.
The incident involved Stanley Kokoszka, Jr, 44, of 12 Bayberry Drive, who was driving a 2005 International garbage truck, and Pasquale DeNigris, Jr, 52, of Ansonia, who was driving a 2001 Hyundai Elantra sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Kokoszka received a written warning for unsafe movement. DeNigris received a written warning for passing in a no-passing zone.
Chevy Into Ditch
Motorist George Smith, 85, of Southbury was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala northward on Toddy Hill Road, near Surrey Trail, about 4 pm July 2, when the vehicle drifted onto the right road shoulder, struck some guard cabling and went into a ditch, police said.
Smith was not injured. Police said Smith failed to maintain the established travel lane.
DUI Incident
Police said they received a report about 11:20 pm July 7 concerning a motorist driving erratically on South Main Street, so they went to the area to investigate.
Police said they made contact with motorist Christopher Bucci, 21, of Brookfield on Hall Lane and then investigated, after which they charged him with driving under the influence.
After arrest processing, police released Bucci on $100 bail for a July 28 court appearance.Â
South Main Street
Police report they stopped motorist Scott Prieto, 47, of 15 Stonewall Ridge Road on South Main Street, near its intersection with Sugar Street, at about 5:40 pm July 8, because the vehicle he was driving did not have a front marker plate.
Police said they charged Prieto with failure to have a front marker plate and with driving with a suspended license.
Police released Prieto on a written promise to appear in court on July 22.
Hawthorne Hill
Police said they are investigating a burglary/larceny that occurred at a Hawthorne Hill Road home on July 8.
Sometime between 1:30 and 9 am that day, someone entered the house and stole $80 in cash, police said. There was no forced entry.

Moving Violations
Police report they stopped motorist Ernst Turnier, 54, of Stratford on South Main Street, near Simm Lane, about 4:44 pm on July 9 because the vehicle that he was driving had no front marker plate.
Police said they charged Turnier with failure to display a front marker plate and with driving with a suspended vehicle registration. Police released him on a written promise to appear on July 23 in Danbury Superior Court.
Breach of Peace
About 5:14 pm July 9, police received a call reporting a disturbance that occurred in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street.
After investigating the incident, police at about 9:40 pm charged Michael Clark, 48, of 55 Sugar Street with breach of peace. Clark was released on a written promise to appear in court on July 27.
Property Damage
At 12:07 am on July 10, police received a call reporting an incident of curbside mailbox vandalism at a Riverside Road home, near the westbound lanes of Interstate 84. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841
Mazda Off Road
Motorist Aaron Cooper, 23, of 11 Newbury Road was driving a 2000 Mazda Protégé southward on Toddy Hill Road, near Surrey Trail, about 12:45 am July 8, police said. Cooper said that a deer ran onto the road, requiring him to swerve to avoid a collision, police report.
In swerving, however, the Mazda struck a landscaping bed at 2 Surrey Trail, hit some plants and then collided with a stockade fence, after which the auto returned onto the road and collided with some guard cabling, police said.
The damage occurred along a 327-foot-long course, police said. Cooper was not injured. He received an infraction for making a restricted turn.
Acura Key
A gray-colored car key for an Acura-brand auto, which was affixed to a Honda key chain, was found at the Ram Pasture. On July 6, the finder turned over that item to police for safekeeping. The owner may claim the item at the police station at 3 Main Street.
South Main Crash
Motorist Diane Larsen, 40, of 50 Deep Brook Road, who was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan northward near 228 South Main Street about 10:50 am July 10, stopped for traffic conditions, police said.
Motorist Schanobe Arias-Lagombra, 19, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion northward, then struck the rear end of the Mitsubishi, police said.
There were no injuries. Arias-Lagombra received a written warning for following too closely, police said.
SUV Crash
Motorist Stephen Vazzano, 40, of 106 Underhill Road, who was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer SUV in the left lane of three lanes on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 11 about 3:20 pm July 11, was traveling too fast to negotiate a right curve in the road and went off the left side of the highway, striking some guard cabling, state police said.
Vazzano was not injured. State police said they issued Vazzano infractions for traveling too fast for conditions and for failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.
Exit 11 Ramp
State police report a two-vehicle accident at the traffic signal at the end of the Exit 11 off-ramp of Interstate 84 about 1:54 pm July 8.
Motorist Claudia Moreira, 45, of 10 Grace Moore Road, who was driving a 2006 Nissan Xterra SUV, struck the rear end of 2006 BMW X-3 SUV driven by Barbara Dittmar, 52, of 6 Bishop Circle, state police said.
There were no injuries. No enforcement information was available.
Rear-Ender
Police report a two-vehicle accident about 6:23 pm July 8 near 62 Church Hill Road.
At a traffic signal there, motorist Andrew Degenhardt, 20, of 32 Engleside Terrace, who was driving a 1995 Ford F-250 pickup truck eastward on Church Hill Road, struck the rear end of an eastbound 2005 Lexus ES-330 sedan driven by Amy Jerris, 43, of 9 Stone Gate Drive, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Degenhardt a written warning for following too closely.
Motorcycle Crash
An accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck that was hauling a trailer occurred near 47 Farrell Road about 5:13 pm July 11.
Police said William Benson, Jr, 45, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck, which was hauling a trailer, was pulling out of the driveway at 47 Farrell Road in order to make a left turn, as motorcyclist Jared Modzelewski, 20, of 8 Patricia Lane, who was driving a 2007 Suzuki GSXR, came around a curve on Farrell Road, saw the pickup truck and then attempted to stop, but drove into the left side of the truck.
The impact caused Modzelewski to be thrown a short distance from the motorcycle, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Modzelewski to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Police issued Benson an infraction for a right-of-way violation.
