Newtown Company Offers Energy Saving Controllers

With energy costs escalating year after year, both consumers and businesses are looking for ways to reduce their energy bills.

A Newtown-based company, Energytime, LLC, offers one solution, helping consumers and businesses save on energy costs with the installation of highly effective and environmentally friendly digital controllers for furnaces, air conditioners, commercial refrigeration units, and water heaters.

Until recently, the controllers were primarily geared toward the commercial market; they are now available for the residential market. The controllers are manufactured by Intelledyne and offered for installation by Energytime.

Energytime and the manufacturer guarantee that homeowners and businesses will save between 10 and 30 percent on annual energy costs, or their investment will be fully refunded.

The devices are environmentally friendly and reduce greenhouse gasses by placing furnaces and a/c units into “cruise control” mode, which minimizes cycling and run times, therefore fewer greenhouse gases and soot are emitted into the atmosphere.

The controller eliminates unnecessary starts and stops, which in turn, saves fuel. It is similar to highway driving versus city driving.

In addition to heating and cooling systems running more efficiently, any homeowner or company utilizing the equipment will actually extend the life of their heating and air conditioning systems with less wear and tear, the company’s website states. The heating and air conditioning equipment becomes more environmentally friendly, and emit fewer greenhouse gases and soot into the atmosphere.

Some of the companies already using the controllers and enjoying annual savings include:

*Key Food Supermarkets in New York — saved 23 percent among its four locations

*Walgreen’s stores in New York — saved an average of 11 percent

*Chelsea Piers in New York — saved 11.3 percent

*Starwood Sheraton Hotel in Stamford — saved more than 11 percent

The company’s digital controllers were independently field tested and proven to save as much as 30 percent in fuel and energy consumption annually. Homeowners or businesses will typically recoup their investment within 12 to 18 months, and savings continue to accrue, year after year, according to Energytime.

A single controller installed on a furnace or air conditioning unit by Energytime costs approximately $599. According to the company website, the devices are installed by insured, certified, and state-licensed contractors with years of experience.
