Kite Flying Contest Held At Ram Pasture
The 15th Annual Kite Flying Contest was held at Ram Pasture on Sunday, May 6. Over 50 kite flyers made their way out to try to keep their kites flying. The wind was not that strong on Sunday, but participants managed to get their kites up into the air. Some were even close to the clouds.
The event is co-sponsored by Newtown Parks & Recreation and The Newtown Bee. Eleven winners were announced.
Highest Flying: Alec and Al Lang; runner-up, Timothy Ullrich.
Most Colorful: Melissa Tolson; runner-up, Linda Rockwell.
Best Homemade Kite: Charles Hunt; runner-up, Kurt, Kevin and Kirsten Liniger.
Most Unusual: Stephen Moulthrop.
Smallest Kite: John Stott.
Largest Kite: Jessica Rockwell.
Longest Tail: Alicia Tolson; runners-up, Jane and Kate Luongo, and Emily and Steven Ashbolt.
