Facing Facts

To the Editor:

I spent many years going in front of the Legislative Council trying to convince them to see things my way, usually the budget. I also spent four years serving on the Legislative Council listening to people trying to convince us to see things their way. I have always felt on both sides of the table the most important part of any issue is to get your facts straight and to be willing to listen to the other side.

Although I was not able to attend last week’s meeting due to a prior commitment, it seems to me that from the account in The Bee and from speaking to people who did attend, that the majority of the people who spoke did not want to let the facts get in their way. However, what is even more disturbing to me is that the majority of the people who did speak to the issue of the town hall and Fairfield Hills in general then left the meeting, without listening to the other side of what has occurred in the past and what can occur moving forward.

I feel that the new centralized town offices are needed and will encourage further development for Fairfield Hills, and would like to thank my former colleagues on the council as well as those new to the council for having the courage and foresight to stick to the plan of moving forward instead of backward at Fairfield Hills.
