Alvy (Rosenhack) Martin, 92, of 180 Scott Road, Waterbury, died March 16 at Waterbury Extended Care in Watertown. She was the widow of David L. Martin.
She leaves two sons, Alan Martin, and his wife Nancy, of Sandy Hook, and Steve Martin, and his wife Jala, of Pittsfield, Mass.; a daughter, Roberta Langlais, and her husband, James, of Watertown; a sister, Rena Berger of Laurel Park, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Arianne Martin and Ami Wilber, both of Washington, D.C., Mark Langlais of New York City, Alison Langlais of Brookline, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters; and a son, Michael Martin.
Mrs Martin was born April 20, 1911, in New York City, daughter of the late Max and Anna (Heimer) Rosenhack. She graduated from Wadleigh High School and Eastman Gaines Business School and worked as an office manager at Continental Fur in Manhattan, N.Y.
She lived in Danbury from 1942 to 1979, and during that period managed the Hadassah Thrift Shop and did volunteer work at Danbury Hospital.
She moved to Waterbury in 1979 and was then a volunteer at the Waterbury Hadassah Thrift Shop for many years. She was a member of Temple BâNai Israel in Southbury, as well as a life-member of Hadassah and the Max Taurig Leisure Group.
Funeral services were scheduled to be held Friday, March 19, at 11 am at BâNai Israel Synagogue, 444 Main Street North, Southbury. Burial will be in Melchizedek Cemetery.
