Josephine C.   Forgione

Josephine C. Forgione died on September 12 at Ashlar in Newtown at the age of 84. She was the widow of the late Antonio V. Forgione, who died in 1997.

Mrs Forgione was born in Danbury, September 18, 1918, daughter of the late Eugene and Caroline Saccamondi Montesi.

She graduated from St Peter School and was last employed by the Oasis Restaurant, and formerly by Jim Barbarie Restaurant, both in Danbury, as a cook. She devoted her life to her family and home and especially enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a longtime resident of Oak Lane in the Hayestown district of Danbury and a member of St Joseph Church.

Mrs Forgione is survived by her four loving sons, Joseph Forgione, Andrew Forgione and his wife Theresa, Eugene Montesi (Skipper) and his wife Mary, all of Danbury, and Anthony Forgione, Jr, of Sanford, N.C.; eight devoted grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Morris and Eugene Montesi, Jr, both of Danbury, four sisters, Anna Tarsi, Mary Miller, and Rose Risdan, all of Danbury, and Grace Scattolini of Brookfield; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated September 17 at St Joseph Church, Main Street, Danbury. Burial was in St Peter Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Mrs Forgione to the Alzheimer’s Association, South Central Connecticut Chapter, 850 Mix Avenue, Hamden, CT 06514.
