Coupe Vs Coupe

Motorist Clayton Lebebvre, 85, of Newington, who was driving a 1997 Buick Riviera coupe eastward on Church Hill Road about 1:51 pm March 2, attempted to make a left turn into the Church Hill Gas Stop gas station there, police said.

At that time, motorist Richard Budman, 71, of 5 Barker Road was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette coupe westward on Church Hill Road, police said.

When Lebebvre saw the Chevrolet approaching him, he stopped the Buick, police said. Budman then swerved the Chevrolet to the right to avoid a collision, but drove into some curbing, police said.

Police verbally warned Lebebvre for making a restricted turn.

Warrant

On March 12, police arrested a Waterbury man on a warrant in connection with his not attending Danbury Superior Court for a scheduled court date in a pending case.

Police said they charged William Watson, 46, with first-degree failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, driving a motor vehicle without a license, and possession of a weapon (knife) in a motor vehicle.

Police said that Watson had failed to appear in court on the charges on January 31.

The original charges stem from Watson being stopped by police at a sobriety checkpoint on Mt Pleasant Road early on the morning of November 26.

After he posted $10,000 bail on March 12, police released Watson for a March 27 court appearance.
