Another Great Coffee Stop
Another Great Coffee Stop
To the Editor:
The families and scouts of Boy Scout Troop 370 would like to thank everyone who made our coffee stop such a huge success. Every Memorial Day weekend, Boy Scout Troop 370 coordinates a community service project. The scouts and parents set up and serve coffee, tea, doughnuts, and bagels to travelers from Friday afternoon to Monday. These young men were at this coffee stop in rotating shifts for 24 hours a day during the long weekend. We are only able to perform this project because of the generosity of the town of Newtown and contributions of the merchants.
In particular, we would like to thank the following for their donations: Town of Newtown-Department of Public Works, Newtown Parks & Recreation, Newtown Tire and Service, Blue Colony Diner, Subway Sandwiches, Sandy Hook Diner, Pizza Palace, My Place Pizzeria, Villa Restaurant, Cedar Hill Electric, Shaws of Southbury, Stop & Shop, Dunkin Donuts of Newtown, Dunkin Donuts of Monroe, Dunkin Donuts of Southbury, Doughnut Inn of Monroe, Big Y, Bagelman, Associated Refuse, Newtown Shell, Berkshire Veterinary Clinic, Town of Newtown-Building and Health Departments, Newtown Hardware, Pembroke Pumping Services, Marcus Dairy, Nunnawaug Meadows, and Sodxeo Marriott.
Many people pulled together to make this coffee stop a success. We are truly grateful to all the merchants who helped to make this community service project possible and we look forward to serving our town again next Memorial Day weekend.
Many weary travelers stopped to take a break and have a cup of coffee. These people were extremely grateful for this service. We hope that we helped to make this holiday a safer one for all those travelers who passed our way.
Sincerely,
Susanne Zencey
